Now to see how many players get injured to start our season. The owners are just brilliant.

Pardon me. I know some people lose their minds when Garth (or Kevin) get corrected. But, it seems important to point out that Ennis signed with a Swiss team. Not German.

I was thinking the same thing - you know it is going to happen too. I find it so crazy that these owners would be willing to risk their assets in this manner.

I am also confused by all these contracts that we signed over the past 2 years and the ones signed just before the CBA expired last week. How can you cry poor when an owner might sign off on these type of contracts.

I did have one question - say a new CBA is established in which the players received a lower percentage than they currently have. How are current contracts handled? Would a player making 1M per year have to take a pay cut?

There are multiple ways the NHL and NHLPA could address this once a new CBA is in place, and obviously that hasn't been decided yet.

Kevin brought up a great point on Hockey Hotline this morning. The players are screwing themselves big time. They are basically saying we aren't willing to play for less money here, so we are going to go overseas and play for less money because we can't afford not to play.

While I understand they are "locked out", they are just as much to blame for landing there as the owners and Bettman.

To me what they are basically saying is, I am willing to play for fans overseas for less money but I am not willing to play for you for less money because I know you( the fans) have the dough and are willing to shell it out for me eventually.

To me thats a big (frank) you. Meanwhile my numbered, lettered jerseys sit idle in my closet.

If you are in a union, you are supposed to tow the line with the union. It doesnt show solidarity to the players with smaller contracts in the league and undercuts your goal for sure. Mike Modano recently said that he figures he lost $7MM in the last lock out when they had to sit a year. I dont likely think it will be any better this time. But Fehr will bring home the bacon - you watch - mark my word... (Sarcasm)

unions have become every bit as absuive as the owners they were meant to confront.

imo the unions are worse than the owners. As an employee you have the right to choose where you work and if you don't like it leave.. As the owner if you have a union labor force it is like you work for them. If you don't like the rules and don't abide by them you either get fined or your employees strike (or both).
